I bought this knife for my husband for Christmas and he loves it! He says it cuts great, light weight and not too big and bulky. He likes having the clip on the side so he can attach it to his pocket.

Years ago, when I was a Boy Scout I had a SOG Flash. I put it through its paces by opening cans, cutting cans, opening boxes, sawing small branches, and more. It was quite a while before the blade required sharpening. The SAT was great, and a big hit with other Scouters. Then I misplaced it...I think I set it down for a bit and someone walked off with it. Regardless, after that, I went through a bunch of knives and none of them could stand up to the SOG.

To name a few: I had a Kershaw...and the blade showed wear after opening a few boxes...I promptly returned it. Had a Buck...same story, and it was also way too bulky. I finally got a Gerber. This one didn't disappoint me, but it lacked assisted opening, had a subpar lock, and the overall design was lacking. Got another Gerber...this one was an improvement over the last, but the serrated portion seemed too fragile for my liking. Then a friend recommended Cold Steel. So I bought one--the blade was very good quality but the handle was not. It was also unbalanced and rather bulky for the blade size. Unlike the SOG the Cold Steel knife showed wear much sooner.

Now that I've retired the Cold Steel, I'm back to SOG. The Flash II's SAT is smooth and it works just as well on its thousandth opening as it did on its first. The clip is superbly placed and it's also quite snug to prevent the knife from slipping out of your pocket. The second lock which prevents it from opening is a great feature, one I wish more knives (even non assisted knives) had. My previous SOG Flash had the zytel handle which was rugged and sturdy. With that said, the aluminum handle is considerably more durable.

If you want a great knife that will take a beating and at a good price, the SOG Flash is for you.
